While this experience has been incredibly painful and something I wouldn’t wish on anyone, it has also highlighted the many good people out there. A kind and concerned follower connected me with Disaster Dogs of Illinois, a non-profit search and rescue group that helps families find their loved ones.

On a very hot Friday, August 16, they came with a team of volunteers and their K9s to assist the Skokie Police in searching the James Park/Levy Senior Center area, as well as the Oakton boating dock and Channel area. Although we, the family, could not be present as requested, we received confirmation that the search did not yield any results. Ironically, this is also a positive for us to remain hopeful for Dolma.

I have also been in touch with officers from both the Chicago and Skokie Police departments, who are just as baffled by her continued absence. They suggested creating a website and a Facebook page to spread the word, as this is where people are most active these days. My task now is to set up a website and Facebook page for Dolma and encourage widespread sharing of the information. I will also continue to reach out to hospitals, shelters, and nursing homes to keep her case in the public eye.
